Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Know What Product I Need?

To treat expression lines in the upper face (ie. forehead, crows feet/smile lines, and scowl) you will want to use a neuromodulator like Botox, Xeomin, Dysport.

To treat bigger deeper folds and for adding volume to area like the lips and cheeks, you will need a filler.
During your consultation, our provider will discuss the best options for you to reach your desired goals.

How Long Will My Neurotoxin Last?

Neuromodulators typically last around 3-4 months on average. You will start to notice return of muscle movement during this time. That’s when it’s best to return.

Things that can affect longevity of product are amount used, product type (some people respond better to one product over another), and individual factors like metabolism.

How Long Will Dermal Fillers Last?

The short answer is, of course, it depends – It depends on what areas were treated, with which product, with how much was injected, and on individual factors like metabolism. Cosmetic fillers are long lasting, but not permanent.

Shorter term fillers made of hyaluronic acid, like Juvederm and Restylane, will last anywhere from 6-18 months depending on the areas treated and your bodies metabolism and hydration.

Most patients choose to have a follow up treatment 6-12 months after initial treatment for wrinkles and contouring. For lip injections or lip enhancements, we recommend a follow up visit after about 6-9 months.

Is There Anything I Can Do To Help Improve the Treatments?

For most patients, the benefits of dermal fillers can be enhanced by using a medical-grade skincare system. Products containing Vitamin-C can strengthen the skin and improve laxity and texture. Additionally, use of Tretonoin (or Retin-A) helps rebuild cells in the skin’s epidermis (or top layer). Over time, Tretonoin can strengthen skin, improving firmness and resiliency. Tretonoin (Retin-A) is available for purchase through Glam + Glo Medical Aesthetics Lounge, Inc. Products, like Skin Ceuticals HA Intensifier can also help accentuate and elongate treatment by adding hydration and boosting natural hyaluronic acid in the treatment area.

98% of skin damage (aging, wrinkles, dark spots, and hyperpigmentation) is caused by sun damage. Wearing sunscreen is critical to maintaining the look and health of your skin. Sunscreen should be reapplied after every 4 hours of sun exposure. We recommends a sunscreen with an SPF 50 or greater.

Will It Hurt?

Pain is subjective, but if we are being completely honest, there will be at least some mild discomfort with the treatment. Let’s face it, there usually is when a needle is involved. For filler treatments, we use a topical numbing cream and the fillers come pre-mixed with a numbing agent inside. Different areas tend to be more uncomfortable than others. Our staff will always keep you informed and prepared before and during the treatment to minimize any surprises.

For Neuromodulators, the needle is smaller and feels more comparable to small insect stings or tiny bug bites, and resolves as soon as the injection is over.

Expectations:

This is probably the most important part of the process. Be sure to discuss your expectations and goals with your provider. It may take more than one syringe of product and more than one visit with us to obtain your optimal results. Aging doesn’t happen overnight and neither does full reversal, but that’s ok! We often want to stage the treatments so that your youthful transition appears subtle and not overdone.

Lips can also take time. We encourage you to bring in photos of your lip goals; however, if you naturally have thinner lips and you want major volume, you will likely need more than one visit with us.

Our staff will advise you on the filler with the most volume and structure to help you reach your goals as quickly and naturally as possible.
